Enter the Lone Ranger (1949) serves as the origin story of the legendary masked hero. The story follows John Reid, the sole surviving Texas Ranger after a brutal ambush by the Cavendish gang. Left for dead, he is discovered and nursed back to health by Tonto, who becomes his trusted companion. Determined to seek justice for his fallen comrades and fight lawlessness, Reid dons a mask and becomes The Lone Ranger, riding his horse Silver as he sets out to uphold the law across the Old West.
Directed by George B. Seitz Jr., the film (actually the pilot for the 1949 TV series) establishes the partnership between the Lone Ranger and Tonto and introduces their mission to track down outlaws and restore order.
